SUMMARY:‘Farm boy\, physician\, and stargazer - the life of Dr Richard Bangay of Holt’ – Amanda Howe
DESCRIPTION:Richard Bangay lived from 1834 – 1933. During that time\, he moved from an impoverished childhood through work on farms and down mines into becoming a physician. He worked as a ship’s doctor\, then as a successful general practitioner. He lived in many places and countries\, and continued to work into his 90s. He also became well known as an amateur astronomer\, owning his own observatory and being elected to the British Astronomical Association in 1905.Wells Local History Group member\, Amanda Howe\, will explore and explain more of the life of this extraordinary Norfolk man. \n\n\n\nNon-members are welcome – tickets are £5.00 and are available from the Maltings Box Office.
